Job Overview

This position offers a unique opportunity for an advanced trainee in pediatrics to gain experience in acute, emergency, neonatal high dependency care and outpatient pediatric services. The role is based in Kalgoorlie and includes 50% allocation of time to teaching, research, academic and remote work.

About the Role

* The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive team environment.
* You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in pediatric medicine, working closely with experienced healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide high-quality patient care in the pediatric ward, maternity unit and SCN.
2. Conduct reviews of ED pediatric patients as required and admit them as necessary.
3. Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and ward review meetings to ensure seamless care delivery.
4. Develop and implement teaching programs for junior staff, hospital RMOs and medical students.

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must:

* Be registered by the Medical Board of Australia.
* Be enrolled in Paediatrics Training Program, Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent programs and demonstrates satisfactory progression appropriate for an advanced trainee.
* Demonstrate current clinical experience in paediatrics and the management of acutely unwell children and neonates.
* Have excellent organizational and time management skills, with highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching of resident, nursing staff and medical students.
* Demonstrate commitment to clinical governance (Patient Safety and Quality), quality assurance, continuous improvement, and clinical research in the field of paediatrics and adolescent health.
* Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal Cultural Respect Framework.
* Have a current C Class driver's license and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.
* Have experienced or interest in rural pediatric practice in a rural setting.
* Hold current Advanced Life Support, Advanced Paediatric Life Support or Emergency Management of Severe Trauma certificates.
* Be able to monitor and review own effectiveness.
