Senior People Advisor

The Senior People Advisor role is responsible for providing specialist advice and coordinating HR, WHS and policy functions across ASQA. The position works under limited supervision, supports strategic people initiatives, and contributes to capability uplift within the People Support & Advice team.

Key Responsibilities

* Managing moderately complex casework across conduct, performance, workplace behaviour, attendance and health related matters
* Providing specialist advice to managers, supporting early intervention strategies and positive workplace culture
* Preparing high quality written case reports, briefing notes and recommendations to support decision making
* Providing accurate and timely advice on policy application, APS employment principles, and the Enterprise Agreement (EA)
* Preparing reports, briefs and documentation for governance committees and senior executives

Skills and Experience

* Good understanding of current HR practice and Commonwealth public sector legislation, and the ability to apply this in casework, policy and day-to-day advice
* Experience managing moderately complex HR casework (e.g. conduct, performance, behaviour, attendance and health matters) and providing practical, evidence based advice using sound judgement
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to write clear advice, reports and briefs and work confidently with stakeholders
* Ability to lead or support HR/WHS/policy projects, including planning, coordination, reporting and improving ways of working and delivering to deadlines
* Ability to work well with others across teams, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive workplace
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and qualified AHRI membership highly desirable

Eligibility to Apply

Under Section 22(8) of the Public Service Act, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing, to the contrary. The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre‐employment checks including a Federal Police Check and obtain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance if they do not already hold a clearance.
