How You'll Make a Difference
CRDVS is looking for a part-time Child and Youth Worker based in Mareeba, QLD, working 60 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE) .
This role reports to the Senior Practitioner and is responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions and counselling services to children and young people affected by domestic and family violence.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
o Developing and delivering trauma-informed counselling and group work interventions
o Supporting carers of child witnesses through information sharing and advocacy
o Engaging with crisis intervention and safety planning as part of an integrated DFV response
o Coordinating with Queensland Police and other services through embedded response work
o Facilitating community education and interagency collaboration to reduce DFV impact
o Preparing accurate case notes, assessments, and data reporting
o Providing leave relief in locations including Atherton, Cairns, Mossman, and courts as needed

What You'll Bring to the Team
Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related discipline. As our Child and Youth Worker, you will have experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic context.
The successful candidate will also have:
o A strong understanding of developmental stages for children, adolescents, and families
o A comprehensive understanding of gendered analysis in family violence and its specific impacts on children and young people
o A well-rounded knowledge of various counselling models and their theoretical frameworks, with particular emphasis on trauma-informed practice
o Familiarity with therapeutic approaches including play therapy, sand tray, or movement-based modalities
Please Note: All applicants must hold (or obtain) a current C Class driver's licence, a Working With Children Card and a formal police criminal history check.
