Australian Red Cross is part of the world's largest humanitarian movement. Red Cross has provided support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Australia for more than four decades and continues to develop new approaches to support people facing housing issues.
About the role
We have an opportunity for a values driven person to join our After Hours Outreach program, providing support to people sleeping rough and/or experiencing chronic homelessness to move into stable, long term housing.
Using a case management and assertive outreach approach, you will support clients to achieve meaningful change through engagement within the community, education, and employment. We focus on best practice to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
The Afterhours Outreach Program operates within shifts 6AM to 2PM and 3PM – 11PM Monday to Friday, and 6-12 on Saturdays and Sundays. A team of two work in an assertive outreach model driving and doing foot patrols in various locations. The locations patrolled range from parks, the city, beaches, motels, hotels, caravan parks, shopping centre carparks and community centres.
The team will offer information and referrals and assess those in particularly vulnerable situations with the possibility of arranging emergency accommodation. You will operate from a strengths based and capacity building framework to ensure the promotion of social inclusion, human rights, participation and consumer choice.
You will be joining a supportive, inclusive team, with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development. You will share our vision that everyone deserves a home that is safe, secure and affordable.
