Collier & Miller is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Retail Trainee to join our busy Industrial Supplies team.
This is the perfect entry-level opportunity for anyone looking to build a long-term career — especially school leavers who want full-time work, hands-on experience, and a nationally recognised qualification. As part of your traineeship, you’ll complete a Certificate III in Retail, fully funded by Collier & Miller, with all study time provided during work hours.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Retail Trainee in our Industrial Supplies team, you’ll be at the frontline of customer service — helping customers find the right gear, supporting our Sales Consultants and Sales Executives, and learning how our department keeps industries across the Riverina moving. Every day brings something different. One moment you might be assisting a farmer with workshop supplies or parts, the next helping organise product displays, processing orders, or supporting the team with stock control.
Your daily tasks may include:
- Assisting customers with enquiries and product selection
- Supporting the team with quotes, orders and stock replenishment
- Helping build product displays and supporting promotions
- Keeping the store tidy, organised and welcoming for customers
What You’ll Learn
No retail experience? No problem — that’s what the traineeship is for. You’ll gain valuable on-the-job experience while completing your Certificate III in Retail, giving you the skills and confidence to kickstart your career. Along the way, you’ll learn:
- How to deliver outstanding customer service and help customers find practical solutions
- How to work with a wide range of technical and industrial products
- Effective communication, sales and problem-solving skills
- How to manage orders, stock, displays and in-store tasks
- The fundamentals of working in a fast-paced retail environment
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need experience — just the right attitude. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn. Ideally, you’ll be:
- Keen to learn about retail and industrial products
- A clear and friendly communicator
- Organised, with good attention to detail
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
To be successful, you’ll also need to:
- Be physically fit and able to lift up to 20kg and use trolleys/pallet jacks
- Pass a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol test
- Be available to work Saturdays and overtime
