As a Medical Officer at Acacia Prison, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering and overseeing comprehensive primary healthcare services to inmates within Western Australia's largest correctional facility. This is a unique opportunity to apply your medical expertise in a challenging yet highly rewarding environment, where your care and decision-making will have a direct and lasting impact on patient outcomes.
This is a casual role, Monday to Friday, 2 days a week (flexible days).

Responsibilities
* Providing high-quality medical care within a multidisciplinary team
* Refer inmates to external providers when care needs exceed the Centre's capabilities, and review progress and outcomes promptly
* Provide skilled health assessments, diagnosis and treatment services to inmates
* Educating inmates on health and lifestyle choices
* Take responsibility for, or contribute to the clinical supervision of Nurse Practitioners/Clinical placements
* Supporting patient reintegration into the community
* Ensuring continuity of care for a diverse custodial population
* Working closely with correctional staff to deliver integrated care
Qualifications
* Unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
* Possess a degree in Medicine from a recognised tertiary institution
* Be recognised as a Fellow or working towards the same with RACGP
* Current Life Support certification/ALS
* Experience in Primary Care, Mental Health, Drug & Alcohol and Emergency care
* Ability to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms
* Cultural awareness and the ability to work with diverse populations
