The Role: The Maintenance Operator is responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance services across the shopping centre. This role ensures the presentation, safety, and operational functionality of the centre through timely response to maintenance requests, proactive inspections, and effective collaboration with the operations team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance tasks across the centre, including basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general handyman work.
- Respond to tenant and centre management work orders in a timely and qualified manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of common areas, plant rooms, equipment, and facilities to identify and address maintenance issues.
- Support contractors attending site, ensuring compliance with centre safety standards and procedures.
- Report hazards, risks, and incidents promptly in line with Glad Group and Karrinyup policies.
- Maintain accurate records of completed works and contribute to reporting requirements.
- Assist with set-ups, minor refurbishments, and other operational support as directed.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with tenants, contractors, and shoppers.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance, handyman, or trade role (retail or commercial property desirable).
- Strong knowledge of building maintenance practices, with multi-skilled capability across trades.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first approach.
- Computer literacy for logging work orders and completing reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to pass pre-employment checks, including police clearance.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts as required, including alternate weekends.
