Who are we looking for?

Due to a significant state‑wide project win, we're seeking expressions of interest from professionals interested in joining the GHD Dams and Water businesses in Tasmania. Whether you're a young professional or a seasoned expert, this is your opportunity to contribute to a renowned project and client, in a region known for its natural beauty and engineering challenges.


What sets this opportunity apart

Our sustained pipeline of work offers stability, career growth, and the chance to be part of a team delivering meaningful infrastructure outcomes over the long term. You will focus on delivering resilient and innovative solutions throughout Tasmania, Australia and beyond, focusing on the following groups:

* Dams group – new dam designs, dam upgrade projects, dam safety, risk assessment.
* Water group – water and wastewater treatment, network design, hydrology and hydraulics.


Key responsibilities

* Providing specialised technical services to clients on a diverse range of projects including feasibility studies, detailed design, upgrade projects and construction support.
* Leading the safety evaluation of existing dams, spillways, embankments and related structures; performing dam safety risk assessments and identifying risk mitigation strategies.
* Leading the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines and stormwater systems, supporting integrated water management strategies and contributing to climate resilience and circular economy initiatives.
* Actively participating in client relationship management, business development, development of proposals, reports and technical analysis.


Qualifications & experience

* Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Environmental or Chemical) or higher, with relevant experience in dam design, construction or safety assessment and management, or water infrastructure design, construction or management.
* Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership (or Chartered for senior roles).Experience with investigation and construction phase services, and an understanding of safety management practices, compliance and guidelines.

* Relocation assistance can be discussed for candidates not already residing in Tasmania.
* Lower cost of living than mainland cities offers more financial freedom to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle while advancing your career.
* Part‑time appointments (minimum 0.7 FTE) will be considered for the right candidate.
* Office shutdown period: Thursday 25 December 2025 – Monday 12 January 2026. We will be in contact with candidates after this time.
