Primary objective
Assist the Jim Scattini Ward team in providing a safe and clean environment, maintain impress, order stock from Katherine
Hospital Stores inventory and restock impress as and when required.
Context statement
Provide support to the Katherine Hospital Jim Scattini Ward – Maternity Unit, by maintaining impress stock levels, adherence
to cleaning protocols and maintenance of cleaning schedules. The role requires the ability to problem solve and escalate
equipment issues in addition to the procurement of non-impress items.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist the Jim Scattini Ward staff with clerical duties and the efficient running of the ward.
2. Assist Jim Scattini Ward staff to provide clear and safe patient care areas.
3. Participate in Quality Management activities.
4. Work towards the objectives of Katherine hospital and TEHS.
5. Assist with answering telephone and visitor enquiries.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated competent literacy, numeracy skills and computer literacy.
2. Well-developed interpersonal and communicative skills.
3. Previous experience working in a hospital environment and understanding of principles of hygiene and asepsis.
4. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
