Job Description
The role
Reporting to the Grounds Co-ordinator, the Grounds Assistant supports the delivery of the School’s grounds and turf care program across multiple campuses, including our Sandy Bay sites, boarding facilities, residential properties and Outdoor Education Centre.
This is a hands-on, physically active role suited to someone who enjoys practical work and being outdoors in all seasons.
Responsibilities:
* Assist with maintenance of sports fields and school grounds, including mowing, brush-cutting, watering, fertilising and chemical application (under supervision)
* Support landscaping projects, garden establishment and irrigation installation
* Maintain gardens and trees through pruning, weeding, mulching and general care
* Undertake routine cleaning of grounds, including rubbish removal and sweeping
* Assisting in cleaning out drains
* Assist with minor repairs to pathways, steps and handrails
* Support regular inspections of facilities and equipment, reporting any hazards or faults promptly
* Helping with facilities when required

Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will:
* Demonstrated interest in and passion for working outdoors.
* Ability to undertake full time physical duties and tasks in an outdoor environment.
* Current driver license or the ability and willingness to obtain a driver’s license for a manual vehicle.
* Certificate I or II in Horticulture or similar, with work-related experience.
