About the role
Your Own Way Australia Ltd. compassionate, reliable, and trauma-informed Disability Support Worker to join our team across Bairnsdale and East Gippsland area. This is a casual role where you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to our elderly and disabled clients. We are seeking individuals to provide 2:1 support to participants with complex needs, including experiences of trauma, family violence, and drug and alcohol use.
This role involves delivering person-centred support in a way that honours their cultural identity, safety, and self-determination. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide consistent, respectful, and empowering care that fosters healing, independence, and connection to culture.

What you'll be doing
Essential Skills
* Candidates must possess the ability to engage with complex participants exhibiting behaviours of concern. At this time, only individuals with relevant experience will be considered.
* Candidates must be able to assist individuals with chronic bowel issues, requiring specialised skills and knowledge in areas like digital stimulation, catheter management, and stoma care, only individuals with relevant experience will be considered.
* Provide daily living support in a trauma-informed and culturally respectful manner
* Assisting clients with a range of daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
* Providing emotional support and companionship to clients, engaging them in activities and outings to promote their wellbeing
* Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to client care and progress notes
* Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and quality standards to ensure client safety and comfort
What we're looking for
* Relevant qualifications in aged care, disability support, or a related field
* Previous experience working with elderly or disabled individuals, providing complex care and support
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients
* Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of our clients
* Must be available weekends and evenings, active as well as inactive night (suited to people that study) shifts
* Day and afternoon shifts

Requirements
* Current valid Driver's Licence
* Current NDIS Screening Check
* Current Working with Children Check
* Current First-Aid and CPR certificate
* Right to Work within Australia
* Current Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance and suitable safe vehicle for participant transportation whilst on shift
* Physically capable to attend personal care to participants as required
Desirable:
