The Ethical Standards Group has both strategic and operational functions with the corporate purpose of contributing to protecting vulnerable Queenslanders from corrupt conduct and misconduct by promoting an ethical and transparent departmental culture. The Ethical Standards Group fulfills its purpose by executing core objectives pertaining to the investigative management and devolution of conduct matters and by reporting externally within the Queensland Integrity Framework.

The role of the Manager (Assessment) is to provide expert, authoritative advice and service delivery to client groups within the department in relation to the identification and management of corrupt conduct and serious misconduct. The position also works in partnership with senior management in reducing instances of corrupt conduct by contributing to relevant sections of the department's integrity framework.

As Manager (Assessment), You Will Specifically
* Assist the Director, Ethical Standards Group to provide professional, authoritative and timely strategic advice to the Director-General, Assistant Directors-General and other senior management on issues of a sensitive and complex nature pertaining to instances of corrupt conduct and serious misconduct within the department.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal stakeholders, including Youth Detention Centre senior management, Regional Executive Directors and Regional Directors, and the Investigations team within the Ethical Standards Group.
* Lead the Assessment team by promoting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing and contribute to ongoing work towards improving and refining Intake and Assessment's processes and workflows.
* Conduct high level, complex assessments, preliminary enquiries and reviews in relation to allegations of suspected corrupt conduct, as defined under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, as well as serious allegations that fall within the scope of the Public Service Commission's (PSC) Conduct and Performance Excellence (CaPE) framework.
* Assist the Director, Ethical Standards Group to continue to maintain a close and effective working relationship with the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC), Queensland Police Service and other third‐party agencies.
* Assist the Director, Ethical Standards Group to work in partnership with the Queensland Ombudsman to ensure that the department has an effective management program in place for public interest disclosures and satisfies all legislative requirements under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010.
* Continue to maintain a close and effective working relationship with the Public Sector Commission and senior management within the department to ensure timely management and reporting of all instances of misconduct in line with the Public Sector Commission's (PSC) Conduct and Performance Excellence (CaPE) framework.
* Represent the department in significant forums relating to public sector integrity and ethics issues.
* Contribute to relevant sections of the department's integrity framework by leading on key integrity initiatives and effectively responding to government integrity and accountability reforms.
* Ensure effective management of human, financial and physical resources.
* Promote an accountable, fair and safe work environment through the implementation of management practices, policies and procedures, including achievement planning and equal employment/anti‐discrimination.
* Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
