Head of Operations and Retail

Full Time | Hobart

Francesca is one of Tasmania’s most recognised retail success stories. From its beginnings at Salamanca Market to becoming a nationally celebrated jewellery label with a growing international audience, Francesca has built a reputation grounded in design, purpose and heart. With thriving stores in Hobart and Melbourne, an expanding online presence, and a team of over 60, the business is entering its next phase of growth.

To support this momentum, Francesca is seeking an experienced, strong operational leader to take on the permanent full-time role of Head of Operations and Retail, based in Hobart. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, this role will ensure the right structure, systems and cadence are in place to drive operational excellence, while remaining true to Francesca’s mission and values.

This position will lead both retail and operations functions through a hands-on, people-focused approach. You’ll guide store and support teams, ensure performance is measured and maintained, and translate strategic priorities into practical daily execution.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing operational and retail activity across all locations and teams

• Translating strategy into action through systems and processes that drive efficiency and performance

• Leading with insight and accountability, using service and operational data to inform decisions

• Supporting managers and team leaders to lead with clarity and deliver results

• Engaging visibly and consistently as a core member of the leadership team

What you’ll bring:

• Proven operational and team leadership experience, ideally in a multi-site retail environment

• Strong understanding of how retail, customer experience and commercial priorities intersect

• Confidence in managing multiple functions and workflows simultaneously

• Clear and calm communication style, with practical problem-solving capabilities and a consistent approach

Skills and qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)

• Demonstrated adaptability in responding to changing market conditions and business priorities

• Strong ethical judgement and integrity, consistently applying transparency and fairness across people and process management

• Well-developed influence and advocacy skills, with the ability to represent and uphold Francesca’s mission and values internally and externally

• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and translate insights into improved business performance
