Our client is a highly respected and known diversified financial services firm with a strong pedigree across asset management and corporate advisory. Our client is seeking an Associate Analyst to join their Equities Research team. This role focuses on domestic SMID-cap ASX resources coverage for institutional investors, spanning bulks, gold, base metals, battery materials and emerging exploration and development names. The successful candidate will support the senior analyst in delivering high-quality institutional research and investment insights across a dynamic and market-relevant segment of the ASX.
The successful candidate will support the lead analyst in the coverage of ASX-listed SMID-cap mining companies, conducting fundamental analysis including detailed financial modelling, project assessment, valuation work and scenario analysis. They will maintain company models, sector databases and valuation frameworks across the Metals & Mining universe, while assisting in the preparation of company reports, sector notes, investment ideas and marketing materials for both institutional fund manager clients and internal institutional sales and trading teams. The role will also involve participating in company management and industry meetings, contributing insights to research publications and client discussions. In addition, the candidate will help monitor commodity markets, industry trends, corporate activity and key events across the SMID-cap resources landscape, providing timely and high-quality analysis to support the broader research effort.
We welcome Equities Research Associates/Analysts (sell-side or buy-side), ideally within the Resources sector, as well as Big 4 accounting firm candidates from Audit or Transaction Services with experience across Metals & Mining or Natural Resources. Similarly, industry professionals such as geologists, mining engineers or metallurgists, or those with broader technical mining exposure who bring strong commercial judgment, analytical capability and financial acumen, ideally supported by an MBA or CFA are strongly encouraged to apply.
* A bachelor's degree or higher in Commerce/Finance/Business and/or a technical mining discipline (geology, engineering, metallurgy).
* 2-6 years' experience in equity research, transaction services, corporate finance, mining operations or another relevant analytical field.
* Strong financial acumen, modelling and valuation skills, with advanced Excel capability.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* CFA or MBA seen favourably but not essential.
