QR_ is currently expanding its activity in Australia and we are looking for a combat systems engineer to join our Melbourne team.
Responsibilities
* Support development of critical combat and electronic systems for defence vessels.
* Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification for combat systems and associated equipment.
* Contribute to systems engineering activities supporting requirements analysis, architecture definition, system integration and verification.
* Develop and review engineering documentation.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders to deliver technical solutions, design reviews and system readiness.
* Conduct system assessments, performance and risk analysis to support design decisions and certification processes.
* Support the sustainment and ongoing evolution of integrated combat system capabilities in naval platforms.
Must have
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Systems, Electronics or related).
* Minimum 2+ years' experience in Combat Systems Engineering, preferably in a defence or naval environment.
* Proven knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle including integration, verification, and validation.
* Sound understanding of combat, weapons and communications systems, as used on naval platforms.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
* Ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline Clearance minimum).
Nice to have
* Previous experience in the Australian maritime defence sector.
* Proficiency in CAD tools (such as AutoCAD or MicroStation) and engineering documentation production.
* Experience with Defence software and configuration management systems (e.g. DOORS, SAP).
* Experience supporting engineering change management, and readiness activities.
