Australian Workforce is a leading national recruitment agency. We are seeking a licensed and experienced Solar Electrician to join our client's installation and maintenance team in the Melbourne Metropolitan. The role involves installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial solar PV systems in compliance with Australian electrical and solar industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Install, commission, and maintain solar PV systems, including inverters, batteries, isolators, and metering equipment.
* Conduct site assessments, roof inspections, and electrical evaluations before installation.
* Ensure all solar installations comply with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 5033, CEC guidelines, Victorian Service & Installation Rules (VSIR), and relevant energy distributor requirements.
* Troubleshoot system faults, perform repairs, and complete warranty work.
* Install and upgrade switchboards, cabling, conduits, and protection devices.
* Perform testing, configuration, and connection of inverters (e.g., Fronius, SolarEdge, Sungrow, GoodWe, Enphase).
* Prepare and complete all compliance documentation, including CEC commissioning sheets, job safety analyses, and electrical certificates of compliance (CoCs).
* Maintain safe work practices aligned with WorkSafe Victoria and company WHS policies.
* Liaise with customers professionally, explaining system operations, maintenance, and safety.
* Work collaboratively with installers, apprentices, and project managers to achieve daily installation targets.

Skills & Experience:

* Proven experience in solar PV installation, service, or maintenance (residential and/or commercial).
* Strong technical knowledge of solar system components, DC/AC wiring, switchboard upgrades, and fault finding.
* Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, layout plans, and inverter specifications.
* Comfortable working at heights and using roof safety systems.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Qualifications & Licences:

* A-Grade Electrician Licence (Victoria) – mandatory.
* Clean Energy Council (CEC) Accreditation – Grid-Connect and/or Battery (preferred)
* Working at Heights Certificate (mandatory for solar).
* CPR/LVR Certificate (current).
* White Card (Construction Induction).
* Valid Australian driver's licence.

Desirable Attributes:

* Experience with battery storage systems (e.g., Tesla Powerwall, BYD, Sungrow).
* Knowledge of smart metering and distributor processes (Jemena, AusNet, CitiPower/Powercor).
* Ability to mentor apprentices or junior installers.
* Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
