Geospatial Data Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled geospatial data specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for data accuracy and quality assurance to work on complex maritime and coastal engineering projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and managing hydrographic and topographic datasets collected across a wide range of onshore, nearshore, marine infrastructure and dredging projects. This includes end-to-end processing of data from acquisition through to final charting and reporting, as well as overseeing data QA/QC and ensuring compliance with SOPs and client project-specific standards.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the end-to-end processing of topographic and hydrographic data from acquisition through to final charting and reporting.
* Oversee data QA/QC and ensure compliance with SOPs and client project-specific standards.
* Support field survey teams with acquisition planning, setup & calibration of survey systems and real-time QC guidance.
* Coordinate the delivery of final survey products including charts, reports, and digital deliverables (3D models, topographic & bathymetric plots etc).
* Maintain internal data workflows, storage systems, and documentation.
* Mentor & develop survey staff in data handling and processing best practices.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of survey systems and automation tools.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying, Marine Geoscience, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in hydrographic survey or as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) specialist with a strong focus on data processing.
* Proficiency in industry-standard software (CARIS, QPS Qimera, Beamworx, Hypack, Eiva, GIS etc).
* Familiarity with marine construction or dredging environments highly regarded.
* Strong organisational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced project environment.
* IHO Category A or B certification (or working towards).
* Experience scripting with Python, Bash or similar for automation and data tools.
* Previous exposure to coastal, ports or underwater infrastructure projects.
* Recognised marine qualification (e.g. Coxswain, MED2+, Master <24m)
