What You'll Be Doing
Responsible for managing the laboratory to provide an effective and effective service across operational management, compliance management, financial planning and reporting, department performance monitoring and reporting, corporate risk management, human resources management and strategic planning. The Flow Cytometry service is based within Wollongong Hospital, serving both inpatient and outpatient needs across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven regions. You will work four days per week in the Flow Cytometry laboratory and one day per week dedicated to research, supporting NSW Health Pathology Wollongong Clinical Haematologists and contributing to scientific advancement in the field.

What You'll Need
- Tertiary qualifications of at least a Bachelor Degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science, with subjects relevant to pathology or an equivalent recognised qualification relevant to Medical Laboratory Science or relevant specialty
- Proven leadership and operational management skills and experience including budget management, staff and resource management and maintenance of professional standards and accreditation
- Experience with quality improvement and risk management, including understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements in healthcare
- Experience in change management and use of financial, statistical, human resources and management data to improve laboratory efficiency and effectiveness
- Strategic thinking and professional networks in a pathology specialty relevant to the laboratory, with understanding of public laboratories within the Australian and NSW health systems
- Advanced knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, Microsoft Office, and Quality Management Systems with proven data analysis skills
- Commitment to excellent customer service and ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders
- Knowledge of research processes, including qualitative and quantitative methodologies in a clinical setting
