Overview
Denmark Local Grocer is a much loved locally owned store in the beautiful town of Denmark. We pride ourselves on providing fresh locally sourced produce and items to our customers with a friendly welcome and we are currently in the process of expanding our operations. Hence this newly created position.
As well as a loyal retail customer base, we have a wholesale division that supplies and supports a range of restaurants, kitchens and cafes in the region. Our reach is far beyond the customers that walk through our doors.
We are looking for a Fresh Produce Manager who will take responsibility for the availability and presentation of both the in‑shop produce and the efficient fulfillment of wholesale orders. You will be passionate about fruit and veg and have excellent customer service skills. We have a number of local suppliers providing us with fresh, high‑quality produce, some of which is spray free. You will be excited about displaying this produce in our store and supplying it to our wholesale customers.
You will also be a part of the leadership team of the Store in general and will act in a general supervisory role throughout the week and some select shifts. If you have aspirations for managing a store or even becoming an owner this position may interest you.
The main attributes you will bring to this role are your fruit and veg passion, your excellent customer service skills, a willingness to learn and loyalty to the position. You will receive a wage commensurate with your current level and knowledge of supermarket operations, which will increase as your level of knowledge increases, access to performance bonuses, loyalty bonuses and other benefits.
This is a fulltime, permanent position based in Denmark. The store operates 7 days a week so some weekend hours will be required on alternate weekends. Being in a busy tourist town our busiest periods are when everyone else is having their holidays. Details of this will be discussed at interview.

Responsibilities
* Presentation of the fresh produce section; detail orientated and presentation skills required.
* Maintain high quality control standards to ensure freshness.
* Keep POS and stock control system up to date so appropriate ordering is done.
* Apply basic economics; use supply and demand to guide decisions, focusing on store benefit.
* Numbers focused role where supply and demand drive decision making.
* Manage time and allocate team members to achieve required workload efficiently.
* Knowledge of POS systems is a major benefit.
* Relationship management with suppliers and customers.
* Ensure customer loyalty and respect.
* Maintain supplier relationships and manage diversity.
* Keep team focused and moving to achieve the above.
* Data entry requirements, but systems keep to a minimum.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of experience in fresh produce management or fruit and vegetable retail operations.
* Food safety certification or willingness to obtain relevant food handling qualifications.
* Valid Australian driver's licence.
* Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa with appropriate work rights.
* Physically capable to lift approx. 15kg from the floor to above your head.
* Current forklift licence or ability to obtain one.
* Basic computer skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
