In November 2024, Next Step Services transitioned into the Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) Hospital Logistics and Acute Access Division (HoLAA) within the East Metropolitan Health Service.
Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Position Profile
The Nurse Practitioner – Next Step Services provides an advanced clinical service working both autonomously and in collaboration with other health professionals to diagnose, treat and manage a patient's health status in accordance with national legislation. The Nurse Practitioner performs advanced physical assessment, orders diagnostic tests, interprets the results of these tests, initiates referrals to relevant health providers, and prescribes appropriate medications and other therapies as needed. The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical leadership and consultancy to medical, nursing and allied health care professionals within Next Step Services. The Nurse Practitioner practices within their scope of practice considerate of the Nursing and Midwifery Board's Nursing Practice Decision Flowchart.
Ongoing credentialling to a scope of specialty practice is a requirement for all nurse practitioners.
Next Step is the leading government drug and alcohol treatment service in Western Australia providing a range of clinical services. The treatment services provided by Next Step include:
* Outpatient services at East Perth and via integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services at six metropolitan locations
* The Inpatient Withdrawal Unit at East Perth
* An onsite pharmacy service based at East Perth
* Outpatient and inpatient youth services via the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Service. Community programmes including the Community Pharmacotherapy Programme and the Clinical Advisory Service.
