Reviewable Decisions Officer – SafeWork NSW Regulatory Assurance and Reviewable Decisions, Governance & Assurance

* Ongoing role based in Parramatta or Gosford, with 3 office days minimum per week

About us SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. We achieve this through a mix of responsive and proactive programs targeting high-risk areas across all industries, aligned with our strategic plan and regulatory priorities. The Governance and Assurance Directorate ensures strong governance, compliance, and accountability across all areas of operation. Through robust frameworks, transparent decision-making and consistent internal controls, the Directorate upholds SafeWork's integrity and supports our strategic objectives preventing harm through strong regulatory approaches, fostering industry capability, and engaging collaboratively with stakeholders. This work underpins SafeWork's ambition to be a model employer and regulator, strengthening public trust and advancing best practice in governance and workplace safety. The Regulatory Assurance and Reviewable Decisions (RARD) team is directly responsible for ensuring that reviewable decisions are internally reviewed within strict legislated timeframes to ensure evidence-based decisions are made. The RARD team is also responsible for the Assurance framework which focuses on the identification of continual improvement opportunities that provides SafeWork NSW with the best chance to achieving our strategic directions. About you You will be an analytical and impartial decision‐maker who can confidently undertake internal reviews of regulatory and authorisation decisions. You bring a strong understanding of administrative law principles and can assess complex information to ensure decisions are legally sound, procedurally fair and consistent. You must have the ability to confidently:
* Analyse and interpret evidence to review the validity and legality of regulatory decisions.
* Prepare high‐quality written reports that clearly outline findings and recommendations.
* Communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
* Manage competing priorities and multiple review applications within statutory timeframes.
* Engage collaboratively with stakeholders to clarify information and ensure transparent processes.
About the role In this impactful role, you'll play a key part in strengthening SafeWork NSW's regulatory integrity. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Undertaking internal reviews of regulatory decisions to ensure they are legally sound, procedurally fair and evidence‐based.
* Supporting the delivery of key assurance functions within the team.
* Educating and collaborating with teams and directorates across SafeWork NSW.
* Identifying and providing continual improvement opportunities through outcomes of internal and external reviews, as well as assurance checks.

* Experience working with statutory schemes or interpreting decisions in accordance with administrative law.
* Strong analytical, critical‐thinking and problem‐solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues plainly.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Capability to deliver high‐quality results under pressure in a fast‐paced, high‐volume environment.
* High standards of integrity, professionalism and commitment to public sector values.
* Strong digital capability, including high proficiency with Office 365 and Power BI, and demonstrating the ability to quickly learn and navigate internal systems and processes.
