Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care and Wellness Assistant to join our aged care team. You will play a vital role in enhancing the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of our residents. You'll support daily living activities while promoting a positive and engaging environment. Working in partnership with consumers, families, carers, and other professionals, you'll ensure care is delivered safely, respectfully, and in line with Mission Australia's values and policies.
This is a permanent night shift position, rostered Sunday to Thursday, from 10:30 pm to 6:36 am.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and assistance such as showering, dressing, and mobility support in a manner that maintains dignity and privacy.
- Follow individualised care plans and communicate any changes in consumer needs, wellbeing, or behaviour.
- Support consumers with mental health, drug and alcohol, or homelessness-related challenges using a compassionate, harm‐minimisation approach.
- Administer and document medication as prescribed and in accordance with Mission Australia policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care activities, incidents, and consumer progress.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and homelike environment, supporting infection control and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Build positive relationships with consumers to understand their needs and support autonomy and independence.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development related to aged care standards and best practice.
Qualifications
- Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering personal care within an aged care or community setting.
- Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and person‐centred care principles.
- Compassionate, respectful, and professional communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Vaccination evidence and NDIS clearance.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
