Description What’s the role? This is your chance to take the reins on independent credit model assessments that shape the way Westpac understands and manages risk. You’ll provide oversight, insight, and control for a range of credit risk models, including non-retail IRB, IFRS9 and stress testing models. In this Sydney-based role, you'll collaborate with senior leaders, present key findings to stakeholders—and act as technical lead for a team of quantitative analysts and managers in delivering smarter, sharper validation processes. What do I need? Deep expertise in non-retail credit risk modelling and validation, covering IRB, provisioning, risk grading and stress testing models. A strategic mindset—ready to challenge methodologies and push for continuous improvement in model risk oversight. Strong leadership and coaching skills to build bench strength within a high-performing team. Exceptional communication skills—you’ll articulate complex risk concepts clearly and persuasively to senior leaders and stakeholders. Technical fluency in SAS, R, Python, SQL, and an ability to drive automation in validation workflows. If you’re passionate about balancing technical precision with strategic impact, this is the role where you’ll thrive. Why join us?
