Ellerslie Farms Group is an agribusiness that operates one of the largest poultry farms in Australia.
We employ over 400 people across our farming operations based at Millmerran, an hour west of Toowoomba in Queensland. Our operations are vertically integrated, covering the entire supply chain from chick rearing, grain production, stock feed milling, egg grading and poultry production. Due to continued growth and expansion, Ellerslie Farms are recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Techncian to join a new project. Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred but not essential, as all training will be provided. The ideal candidate will have a passion for product integrity, experience managing teams and thrive in a time-sensitive and diverse working environment. About the Role ...
The Mechanical Engineering Technician is responsible for organizing and supervising the inspection and maintenance of machinery, plant all equipment and facilities on the Ellerslie Farms Grading Floor -Wellcamp, including the provision of assistance to management as to the administration, costing, plans and designs of all mechanical engineering tasks.
Salary of $76,515 per year.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineering Technician ensures the smooth and efficient running of the Ellerslie Farms Grading Floor operations by ensuring all machinery and equipment are kept in safe, proper and efficient working order at all times to minimise 'down time' and compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements at all times.
These will include, but will not be limited to the following tasks:
Key functions of the role include:
* Examine blueprints, plans, and drawings to be able to construct, assemble, manufacture, repair, troubleshoot and fit parts of machinery and equipment;
* Complete regular machinery and equipment inspections as part of planned and programmed maintenance schedules;
* Scope out material costs and quantities for site projects;
* Examine material lists in conjunction with blueprints, technical specifications and OEM manuals/guidelines to obtain parts specifications;
* Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes;
* Comprehensive completion of all necessary maintenance documentation, registers and reports.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following key strengths expected to effectively manage a production unit and team:
* AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma
* 3 years' experience in relevant field
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to multitask and prioritise projects
* Proactive focus on Workplace Health and Safety in all tasks completed
* Candidates must hold valid Australian work rights, including citizens, permanent residents, or those with valid work visas
