**About the role**:
With the world of work changing at lightning speed, Challenger is looking to employ an innovative People and Culture Leader with recruitment expertise to evolve our people practices and reinforce our positive culture. You will be an active recruitment specialist with experience in developing and implementing effective practical strategies to attract, recruit, inspire and engage the dedicated front-line staff and talented managers who are vital to our business success. This encompasses all aspects of employer branding and hiring through to areas such as onboarding, rewards and recognition, performance management, learning and development and so on. You will be in a position of real influence, as a valued member of our Senior Leadership Team. You will be comfortable in dealing with a range of stakeholders, from new employees to senior executives, as you'll need to bring people along on the journey with you.

You will lead a small team of HR professionals, overseeing all aspects of our People & Culture functions, covering a national workforce of 1100 employees and growing. You will implement intelligent systems that drive real business outcomes, not bureaucratic policies, so you'll be a proven achiever with a genuine interest in people. You will also develop measurement strategies that enable us to continuously improve our recruitment and retention outcomes.

**Some specific responsibilities**:
Your team will undertake the following specific tasks, which you will undertake, oversee, drive and improve:

- Providing general ER and IR advice
- Dealing with employee queries
- Managing workforce planning and forecasts
- Developing and implementing succession planning strategies across various departments
- Maintaining and updating employee files and records
- Developing and implementing People and Culture strategies in line with the overarching objections of the business
- Updating and maintaining policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements
- Overseeing WHS matters including injury and return to work management
- Implementing performance management strategies and outcomes
- Interpreting and advising internal stakeholders about Modern Awards and relevant legislative requirements across several Awards including HIGA, Cleaning Services, Food Beverage & Tobacco and others

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- Extensive experience and achievement as a People and Culture Leader
- Demonstrated hiring success
- A tertiary degree in HR or any field is desirable
- Excellent communication skills with a genuine interest in people and a proven ability to build relationships, negotiate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- The ability to navigate Modern Awards and Industrial Instruments across a range of industries
- A solid understanding of commercial imperatives and objectives
- High agility with the skill to adapt quickly, embrace new technology and drive innovation
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of generating and delivering outcomes, on-time and on-budget
- A demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and learning
