We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Optometrist to join our team in an advanced clinical optometrist role. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality ophthalmic care to patients in Suffolk and surrounding areas.
As an advanced clinical optometrist, you will have significant experience in delivering sub-specialty ophthalmology care and will be an independent prescriber registered with the General Optical Council. Your responsibilities will include delivering independent ophthalmology and optometry clinics, as well as supporting training and education within the department and the wider optometry community.
For candidates with less experience and postgraduate qualifications, we welcome applications for developmental positions, starting at Band 6 or 7 depending on qualifications and experience. Progression will depend on clinical competency and postgraduate qualifications. We are committed to supporting your professional development.
Part-time positions are available up to 19.5 hours per week, with working days and hours to be agreed.
Main duties include:
1. Acting as an autonomous advanced clinical practitioner providing high-quality, individualized clinical management.
2. Providing extended specialist role services.
3. Making high-level decisions informed by advanced history taking, diagnostics, assessment, and treatment skills.
4. Assessing, examining, investigating, diagnosing, and treating patients independently.
5. Using advanced technical skills to provide ocular treatments such as YAG laser and SLT.
6. Understanding the limits of your competence and working within your scope of practice, especially with complex cases.

Qualifications
* Essential: BSc Hons Optometry or equivalent, GOC registration, postgraduate specialist qualification(s) at Masters level or above, GOC Specialty Registration (Independent Prescribing)
* Desirable: Postgraduate research experience, Masters in Advanced Practice or equivalent
Experience
* Extensive experience with HES and in extended roles in sub-specialty practice
* Experience with core optometry sub-specialties and clinical supervision
