Position Information
Hastings Secondary College consists of two coeducational campuses in the township of Port Macquarie. The college is one of 9 schools that form the collaborative and dynamic Hastings Valley Public Schools. The combined enrolment of 1423 students includes over 300 students with a rich and proud Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. The campuses have broad curriculum offerings that include innovative STEM, Sport and Creative & Performing arts academies, trade-training facilities, and agricultural farms. Stage 6 students have access to cross-campus electives, ensuring a diverse curriculum that has resulted in positive academic results. Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria.
* A highly visible, approachable leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, who inspires and builds trust, supporting a diverse and dynamic staff to collaborate in achieving Campus and College School Excellence Plan initiatives.
* A strategic, equity driven leader who promotes consultation and excellence within a comprehensive Campus and College community with demonstrated leadership in transition to high school, Stage 4 and 5 and pathways initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive, productive relationships across the school community that strengthen relationships and embeds wellbeing as a strategic priority for staff, students and families.
* Instructional leadership expertise in building skilled teaching practices through innovative professional learning in explicit teaching to improve outcomes for a diverse range of students with a focus on High Potential & Gifted Education (HPGE), Aboriginal Education and supported learning.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P4 for 2025 and also Principal Level P4 for 2026.
Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
