Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Banking Lawyer to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for providing expert counsel on business banking, corporate finance, and trade finance transactions.
Your primary focus will be on structuring, drafting, negotiating, and reviewing transaction documents to ensure they meet our mandate and objectives. You will also identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks, working closely with credit, portfolio management, and external advisers to implement risk management strategies.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will have strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively communicate complex legal issues to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
We require a solid background in business banking, corporate finance, and trade finance, with exposure to risk participation and syndicated lending arrangements. A proven track record of drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills is essential, as well as a meticulous attention to detail.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in banking and finance law, gained in-house at a large financial institution or within a top/mid-tier law firm.
- Current practicing certificate as a solicitor in New South Wales or equivalent Australian jurisdiction.
