#About Hobart City Mission
Hobart City Mission (HCM) is inviting expressions of interest to join our Board of Directors as a
volunteer.
Established in 1852, HCM was the first City Mission in Australia and is the third-oldest Mission
in the world. We support people in Southern Tasmania who are doing it tough by providing
emotional, physical and financial assistance.
We are committed to developing innovative programs and services that empower people and
enable them to participate in community life with dignity, purpose and self-reliance.

#About the Role
Board Members help oversee the work of Hobart City Mission and ensure the organisation
remains strong, effective and accountable.
This is a voluntary (unpaid) position.
We are particularly interested in people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• Corporate compliance and governance
• Marketing and communications
• Fundraising and philanthropy
• Legal services
• Community support services
• Social enterprise
• Risk management

• Are willing to contribute their time, insights and leadership to strengthen Hobart City Mission and its impact in the community
• Bring relevant professional skills and experience
• Work collaboratively and constructively as part of a Board

#Time Commitment
Board Members contribute approximately 10–12 hours per month, including:
• 6–8 Board meetings each year
• 6–8 Board subcommittee meetings each year
• Reading Board papers and contributing to discussions and decisions
• Volunteering within the organisation
• Attending HCM functions and fundraising events

#Assessment
EOIs will be assessed by a recruitment team of Directors and a short list prepared.
Short listed candidates will meet with the team to discuss their interest and to give an
opportunity to ask questions about the role and the appointment process.
The team will make recommendations to the Board for approval.
