An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Project Manager to join a large and complex Government Department undergoing significant business transformation. This role sits within a high-performing Portfolio Management Office supporting strategic uplift across infrastructure planning, investment, and performance.
With a capital works program exceeding $1.7 billion annually and an asset base valued at over $40 billion, the division is responding to increasing demand through the delivery of major reform initiatives focused on improving portfolio management, financial management, asset management, contract management, and digital enablement.
This position will lead one or more non-technical (non-ICT) business transformation projects from concept through to implementation - with a focus on establishing new operational functions, teams, and sustainable capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end project delivery, including planning, scheduling, governance documentation, and execution of key project milestones.
* Manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborate closely with business and program stakeholders.
* Apply fit-for-purpose methodologies (PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent) to deliver complex business change in a dynamic environment.
* Identify and manage project risks, issues, interdependencies, and change impacts.
* Champion organisational change management in partnership with internal change specialists.
* Support the implementation of new business capabilities, operational teams, and governance models.
* Contribute to program-level reporting, assurance, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.

You are a skilled project manager with demonstrated experience delivering business transformation initiatives in large, complex environments. You bring a people-first approach to your work, are adept at navigating ambiguity, and excel at influencing without direct authority.
You Will Also Bring
* Proven experience in managing complex business change or transformation projects.
* Ability to build and lead teams and deliver through influence and collaboration.
* Strong project documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
* Familiarity with project and change frameworks such as PRINCE2, Agile, and PROSCI.
* Proficiency in tools such as MS Project, Excel, SharePoint, and JIRA.
* Tertiary qualifications in project management, business, or a related discipline are desirable.
