Summary
A specialized cardiac sonographer independently performs echocardiograms, including TTE, transesophageal, stress, 3D, Doppler, and Strain imaging in inpatient, outpatient, and off-site settings. The results directly impact patient care.
Minimum Qualifications
* Completion of an accredited Sonography program OR one year of full-time cardiac echocardiography experience OR completion of an approved Echo Trainee Program OR Summa Sonographer Intern requirements.
* Registered in the field (RVS, RVT, RDMS, RCS, RDCS).
* Basic Life Support certification.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to make independent clinical assessments and judgments.
* Quickly assess and resolve scanning, technical, and patient care issues professionally.
* Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare professionals.
* Provide high-quality echocardiogram examinations routinely.
* Operate and calibrate equipment; lift and transport patients and equipment.
* Prioritize work independently and resolve problems effectively.
* Remain calm and effective in emergencies.
* Work well as part of a team.
* Understand and respect patient needs for dignity and self-respect.
Physical Demands
Heavy exertion: lifting objects weighing 25-100 pounds, with continuous effort for 10-20 pounds.
