Major Tasks and Duties:
- Prepare Pastry items - make Cakes and Pastry, preparing all our Desserts
- Checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before & after production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients to ensure there is no contamination or foreign objects.
- Kneading, maturing, cutting, molding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods.
- Preparing pastry fillings.
- Monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times.
- Coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products.
- Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing.
- Operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits.
- Emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment.
- Create new and exciting desserts to renew menus and engage the interest of customers.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Trade Qualification or equivalent is a minimum requirement.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or Pastry Chef.
- Strong skills in the production of pastries, desserts and cakes preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
- Have sound knowledge on all Pastry and bakery equipment including mixing and ovens.
- Strong work ethic.
- Great attention to detail and creativity.
- Organising and leadership skills.
