Our esteemed client, Detour Refrigerated Logistics, is committed to delivering dependable and efficient refrigerated transport services for perishable goods throughout Australia. Located at Silvan, Victoria, they specialise in temperature-controlled logistics, ensuring that clients' products retain their quality and integrity from pickup to delivery.

They are seeking a skilled Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of refrigerated transport vehicles to ensure reliable and efficient operations. Your work will directly support the safe and timely delivery of perishable goods, helping the company uphold their commitment to quality and integrity from pickup to delivery.

The annual salary of a Diesel Motor Mechanic is $77,000 to $78,000 plus superannuation.

Responsibilities include:

* Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in engines, transmissions, and vehicle components.
* Dismantle, remove, and inspect engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical parts for wear or damage.
* Repair, replace, and reassemble faulty or worn components, using service manuals and manufacturer specifications as guidance.
* Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and other preventive measures to ensure optimal vehicle performance and compliance with environmental regulations.
* Reassemble engines and mechanical parts following repairs, ensuring proper fit and function.
* Test and fine-tune repaired parts to confirm correct operation and performance.
* Use computer diagnostics and testing tools to identify faults and verify repairs.
* Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness, issue certificates where applicable, and recommend additional work to meet compliance standards.
* Attend to vehicle breakdowns and provide on-site repair services as required.
* Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for fleet vehicles.
* Collaborate with team members to improve vehicle reliability and efficiency.
* Ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols and best practices while handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.

Qualifications:

* Must have over three (3) years of experience.
* Should hold a Certificate III and above relevant to the field.
