Role Details
The Peer Workforce team at the Mackay Community Health Centre is seeking a Peer Worker for a permanent position.
Key Requirements
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, genuine occupational requirement: person with a lived experience of mental issues, substance use and recovery.
- Experience accessing Mental Health or Alcohol and Other Drugs services as a client (public, private or primary care).
Responsibilities
- Utilise lived experience to assist clients in working towards achieving their best outcomes.
- Support clinicians to develop a better understanding of recovery‐oriented care and the benefits of peer support.
- Provide productive, effective, ethical, confidential, person‐centred, non‐clinical peer support within the Mackay Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Division across community and inpatient settings.
- Work under direction to facilitate the delivery of peer support for clients of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs service.
About the Division
The Division of Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs comprises eight clinical teams across the MHHS. Services are consumer‐focused, recovery‐oriented and delivered in community, acute inpatient, hospital and emergency department settings.
