Location: Morwell, VIC, Australia, 3840

Employment type: Fixed Term - Part time (12 months) – 30.4 hours per week.

Salary: $88,099 - $94,791 pro rata + Super + NFP Salary Packaging.

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community‐Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. About The Role

The Youth Diversion Case Manager will support a caseload of up to 8 young people aged 10 – 17 years at one time, who are at risk of entering or have had contact with youth justice, police or custodial settings; and their families by providing comprehensive and individualized care to young people and their families.

About You

* Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose
* Awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people
* Demonstrated knowledge or ability to obtain knowledge of the Youth Justice system in Victoria
* Ability to Identify, assess and respond to risk using applicable frameworks in a variety of contexts
* Experience in case management with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or vulnerable groups (community services, justice, education)
* Demonstrated high level of empathy, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
* An appreciation that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are best placed to lead the response to issues impacting their communities

Desirable

* Experience working in an Aboriginal organisation or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Experience in child and family services and/or justice

Requirements

* Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
