The Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism team at CIT is seeking a hospitality professional to help shape the industry for the future. As a teacher with us, you will pass on your extensive experience and industry knowledge to students waiting to learn from you. We are looking for a candidate with managerial experience in the hospitality industry to lead and direct the operations of the CIT Restaurant. This role involves guiding, teaching and assessing front-of-house students in a dynamic, real-world industry setting. Responsibilities include teaching and assessing the following programs: Bar Services Customer Service Responsible Service of Alcohol Responsible Gaming Services Barista Courses Certificate III in Hospitality to Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management The successful applicant must be an excellent communicator, team player and have a passion for training. Your work as a teacher will require digital skills as we use a range of programs to train, assess, record data and communicate with students and colleagues. WHAT DO I NEED? To be successful in this position you must have the following: Possession of relevant formal vocational qualifications in Hospitality (e.g.: SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management). Demonstrate a broad range of current industry skills and experience including a managerial position. Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate Eligibility/other requirements: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR REGISTRATIONS/LICENCING Refer to the ACT Public Sector Canberra Institute of Technology (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2022, sub-Clause 40. New Teacher Level 1.1 to Teacher Level 1.6 with Vocational Education and Training (VET) responsibilities must: Hold a Training and Assessment Certificate IV level qualification (such as a TAE40116 or equivalent). Where the full qualification is not held, hold as a minimum prior to employment as an employee in any form, qualifications as required by the Standards for RTOs (Enterprise Trainer - Presenting Skill Set and/or Enterprise Trainer - Mentoring Skill Set and/or Enterprise Trainer and/or Assessor Skill Set); and Complete the full qualification within 18 months of engagement and be supervised by a suitably qualified person All employees at Teacher Level 1.7, 1.8, Teacher Level 2 and Manager Education Level 1 must hold a full Training and Assessment Certificate IV level qualification (such as a TAE40116 or equivalent) and a Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (or equivalent). INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE In accordance with sub-Clause 40.10 of the ACT Public Sector Canberra Institute of Technology (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2022. All employees at Teacher Level 1 or Level 2 are required to have relevant industry experience and vocational qualifications equal to that being taught, or as specified in the applicable training package or accredited curriculum specifications. Qualification - Certificate Ill in Hospitality (SIT30622 or equivalent). DESIRABLE Qualification and/or experience in the Tourism and/or Travel sector to be able to deliver on the Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management qualification High level computer literacy. Experience in navigating an on-line learning platform. Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP).
