Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) Senior Worker
Part-time, 30.4 hours a week, Fixed Term to 31/12/2027
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
About the Role
The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngster (HIPPY) is a free, two-year, home-based early childhood learning program that empowers parents and carers to be their child's first teacher.
The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY)Senior Worker will work with the Program Manager to implement the HIPPY program and maintain the day to day delivery of the program which include mentoring tutors.
The HIPPY Program will support Aboriginal children and parents in the Shepparton and Mooroopna catchment area ensuring Aboriginal culture plays a major part of their participation within the program.
The successful applicant will be provided HIPPY Pre-Service Training and will also be responsible for the training of Home Tutors.
About You
To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
* You are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
* Early Childhood or equivalent qualifications in a related discipline to this field of work.
* Experience working with Aboriginal children and families preferably in the early years space.
* Knowledge of and experience in working to support adult learners.
* Excellent communication skills to engage with local community to establish local networks and maintain relationships with service providers.
* Experience leading and managing tutors paid and unpaid staff.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, documentation, and computer literacy skills (Microsoft Word essential) is required to compete reports.
* Strong administrative, organisational and time management skills.
* Work with the Program Manager to monitor the expenditure of the HIPPY budget.
