About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services


Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is a regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) established to provide support and advocacy for member services across the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Since its inception in 1986, KAMS has expanded its reach, offering a wide range of health services to remote communities, including primary health care and renal support.

Our vision is to enhance the health and well-being of Aboriginal people in the Kimberley through effective advocacy, quality healthcare services, and the development of a skilled workforce. We are dedicated to delivering culturally appropriate health solutions that cater to the unique needs of our communities.


Position Overview


The Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Educator role will be based in Kununurra on a full-time basis, you will be working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide education and support for CKD patients and their families. This position involves promoting awareness of CKD, developing clinical standards, and engaging in service planning and reporting to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver clinical practise and education for CKD patients, local service providers and the community.
* Develop and maintain clinical standards in alignment with best practises.
* Promote services and engage in advocacy for renal health in the community.
* Participate in service planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Ideal Candidate Profile


The ideal candidate will be a dedicated and self-motivated professional with a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control principles. You will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

* Eligible for registration as a Registered/Enrolled Nurse or suitably qualified Health Professional.
* Demonstrated ability to provide training and education across various settings.
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong report writing skills.
* Current National Police Clearance and a C class driver's licence.
* Willingness to travel throughout the region as required.

Experience working with Aboriginal populations and in community-controlled health services is highly desirable.


Salary & Benefits


The base salary for this position is $120,380 per annum pro rata. Additional benefits include:

* Accommodation allowance of $13,000 per annum pro rata,
* Annual airfare of $1,800 per annum after 12 months of service, and
* Optional salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata.
