Primary objective
The Sport Engagement Officer for Alice Springs Masters Games 2026 will oversee all elements of sport competition and operations,
including liaising with sporting bodies, coordinating officials, managing results and schedules, and ensuring competition safety. The
role will help deliver memorable medal ceremonies, contribute to sport-specific marketing efforts, and support broader recognition
initiatives for athletes, volunteers, and ambassadors. As a key point of contact for sports partners, the role will ensure competitions
run smoothly, safely, and to standard, while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders and the Games workforce. The
role will also assist with day-to-day office operations and provide frontline event support as part of a high-performing team
delivering one of Central Australia's most iconic events.
Context statement
The 2026 Alice Springs Masters Games is seeking a proactive and sport-savvy Sports Engagement Officer to play a pivotal role in
the planning and delivery of the Games' sporting program.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the Delivery of the Sports Program - Work closely with sport convenors and governing bodies to plan and implement
all sport competitions, ensuring schedules, formats, and venues meet agreed standards.
2. Manage Sport Officials and Results Systems - Support the recruitment and coordination of sport officials, and oversee accurate
results management, scorekeeping, and competition reporting across all sports.
3. Oversee Medal Ceremonies and Athlete Recognition - Plan and deliver medal presentations in collaboration with the Games
team, ensuring timely and respectful recognition of participants' achievements.
4. Ensure Safety and Emergency Procedures Across Sporting Venues - Monitor and support the implementation of safety
protocols and emergency procedures, working with venues and officials to maintain participant well-being.
5. Serve as Primary Sport Liaison - Act as the key contact for sport-specific enquiries from sports coordinators and officials,
supporting a consistent and responsive communication flow.
6. Coordinate Sport-Specific Marketing Activities - Collaborate with the marketing team to support the promotion of individual
sports, including athlete stories, highlights, and key schedule updates.
7. Support Games Office Operations and Communications - Assist with phones, daily administration, and general office duties as
required, ensuring strong internal communication and event coordination.
8. Collaborate Across the Event Delivery Team - Work closely with fellow coordinators and the Event Manager to ensure tasks
are aligned, responsibilities are shared effectively, and overall Games operations run smoothly.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated event, venue, sports or project management skills across a diverse portfolio of events and venues.
2. Sound knowledge of local area marketing
3. Ability to work well in a team whilst taking responsibility for your own work.
4. Demonstrated ability to remain productive whilst working under external pressures.
5. Proven customer service skills including sound oral and written communication skills and experience working with the general
public. Experience in local business engagement and community development is desirable.
6. Proven sound administration skills and ability to adapt to new software programs.
7. Current valid drivers licence, First Aid certification and/or ability to obtain.
