This role is about shaping the direction of a national design function, mentoring future leaders, and integrating emerging technologies to deliver value-driven solutions.
About the Role:
In this senior leadership position, you will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to oversee design teams in Adelaide, Sydney, and Melbourne.
Your focus will be on creating alignment, building a culture of technical excellence, and ensuring design projects meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and efficiency.
This is not just about managing processes, it is about driving business growth, enhancing customer experiences, and spearheading innovation that impacts customers across Australia and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute a comprehensive national design strategy that drives collaboration, best practice, and continuous improvement.
* Create and roll out a design framework that inspires and mentors design leaders, developing strong, accountable teams.
* Oversee the creation and governance of design standards, tools, and review processes that ensure seamless project delivery.
* Evaluate and optimize budgets, resources, and capabilities across multiple sites to enhance delivery and drive business success.
* Collaborate with innovation teams to integrate emerging technologies and deliver value-driven solutions that meet customer needs.
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar technical discipline).
* Solid track record in design management, ideally within machinery, automation, or advanced manufacturing.
* In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles and modern engineering software.
* Strong leadership and team development experience, with a proven ability to drive business growth and deliver large-scale projects on time and within budget.
* A passion for fostering innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement, with a commitment to mentoring future leaders and driving organisational change.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, dealing with complexity while prioritising effectively.
