 
        
        The roleYou will work as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for administering the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024 (Act).
As a newly established organisation, the Queensland Pharmacy Business Ownership Council (Council) offers a dynamic and fast paced environment that will require adaptability, responsiveness and a proactive mindset.
The Principal Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to the Council and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on a wide range of regulatory and operational matters and will be a strategic advisor to the CEO.
Responsibilities include: Providing internal legal advice and legal representation to Council and the CEO on a broad range of operational and regulatory matters and briefing of external lawyers as required.
Supporting Council and Council staff in administrative decision-making, including drafting and reviewing reasons for decision, requests for information and other notices.
Supporting the CEO with other general legal matters relating to the day-to-day operation of the Council such as governance, human resourcing, contractual obligations, policy and process development and legislative obligations.
The successful person
To be successful in this position, you will have comprehensive knowledge and experience in public and administrative law, with demonstrated high level ability to consider and advise on a range of legal issues.
A strong background in government legal practice, or advising government agencies, will be viewed favourably.
You will have excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels, including the ability to provide written and verbal advice and work collaboratively with stakeholders and staff.
You will also have proven experience in delivering high quality work in high pressure environments, while managing multiple projects and priorities.
You will have proven ability to operate in a complex and dynamic environment, including the capacity to navigate ambiguity and take on varied responsibilities with a positive, adaptable attitude.
Admission or eligibility for immediate admission as an Australian lawyer and being eligible to obtain a practising certificate as a legal practitioner in Queensland at the time of appointment is a mandatory requirement of the role.
