About the role
ALS Water is seeking a commercially oriented Microbiologist to join our new beautiful laboratory premise in Cambridge, Hobart. This is a great opportunity to join a small, close-knit team offering a broad scope in a busy, fast‐paced and hands‐on environment.
As a full‐time, permanent opportunity the working hours will be 9:00AM to 5:06PM.
The Microbiologist is responsible for
* Oversee the running of the microbiology laboratory in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager
* Perform microbiological analysis in accordance with QWI's and ALS Quality systems
* Perform basic chemistry analysis in accordance with QWI's and ALS Quality systems
* Data review, LIMS entry and reporting of analytical results
* Perform required QA/QC tasks and maintenance of equipment used for conducting analysis.
* General laboratory operational support
The Essentials
* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience working in an appropriate discipline (Microbiology).
* Strong computer literacy and numerical skills.
* Good laboratory techniques.
* Maintain accurate data records and prepare analytical reports.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with other employees and with clients.
* Aptitude, experience and understanding of the requirements of a NATA certified laboratory.
* Ability to work independently or with limited supervision and to make decisions and apply professional knowledge and judgement to solve problems.
* Plan and prioritise tasks and perform these tasks efficiently
* Ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
