AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to keep the cloud running. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain.

This role is for an experienced EHS Manager, Safety Specialist, or Safety Engineer. The prime responsibility is to support safety operations in Melbourne, Australia, with potential opportunities to support other states or countries.

The chosen person must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise messages verbally, in written form, and in public speaking forums. This individual will advise, instruct, and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures, and assist teams in incorporating safety standards at their sites.

The role works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance safety: onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems. The role will also work closely with employees, contractors, and construction teams to achieve specific safety objectives.

This position reports to the Regional Safety Manager, Australia & New Zealand, is based in Melbourne, and may require some international travel.

Responsibilities

* Implement safety standards, policies, and practices including safety management systems, training, and risk assessments.
* Collaborate with facilities managers, HR, operations, and outside vendors (general contractors, sub-contractors, emergency services) as related to operations and construction.
* Ensure compliance with global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
* Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events, and other unique safety situations.
* Perform safety data analysis and develop benchmarking.
* Ensure safety recordkeeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
* Consult and work with legal on safety regulation interpretations and investigations.
* Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
* Adapt to fast‐paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy, and deadlines.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
* 5 or more years of field experience with a proven record of safety.

Preferred Qualifications

* Construction, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar industry safety experience with a mix of full‐time employees and third‐party contractors.
* Considerable knowledge of local safety and health regulatory law, practices of investigations, and workplace safety, including experience dealing with local regulators.
