About the role

We have an opportunity for a
Systems Administrator (VMware SME)
to be part of our Hosting Platform, Technology and Communication Services Command
team. The Systems Administrator (VMware SME) supports service delivery to the organisation in the management of IT computer systems.

To support this role, we are looking for a candidate with:

* 5+ Years experience working in a large organisation supporting and maintaining VMware Virtual Infrastructure and its hardware platforms
* Extensive experience and technical skills with the VMware suite of products, including vSphere ESXi and vCenter (versions 8.0+), NSX, and VMware Aria Suite (Aria Automation, Aria Operations, Aria Operations for Logs, Aria Operations for Networks).
* A solid understanding of vSphere networking (NSX) and storage technologies.
* Experience in patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of VMware components.
* Experience with VMware Live Recovery/Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and vSphere Replication.
* Ability to monitor environments and troubleshoot complex issues, including performance-related problems.
* Knowledge and hands-on experience with DFW (Distributed Firewall) and ATP (Advanced Threat Protection) / SSP.
* A good understanding of VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation).
* Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript.
* An understanding of hybrid cloud models.
* Desirable: Experience with vSAN and Dell server hardware.
* VMware certification or proof of relevant training attendance.

Provide evidence of your extensive knowledge and experience in VMware patching, lifecycle management, and firmware upgrades in a production environment. Also describe any issues you have encountered during patching and how you troubleshooted and resolved them. Your answer must be based on your own work, and Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar tools cannot be used.
