About the role

Sharp & Carter are currently recruiting for multiple Payroll Officer opportunities across a diverse range of industries. These positions range from entry-level through to senior payroll opportunities, offering excellent pathways for career growth and development.

We are partnering with a number of well-established and highly regarded organisations seeking motivated payroll professionals with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering accurate and timely payroll services.

Key responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll processing across weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll cycles
  • Ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, superannuation, and payroll tax
  • Maintaining and updating employee payroll records and documentation
  • Interpreting Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and employment contracts
  • Processing new starters, terminations, leave entitlements, and employee variations
  • Managing payroll queries and providing support to employees and stakeholders
  • Reconciling payroll reports and assisting with month-end reporting requirements
  • Supporting the implementation and improvement of payroll processes and systems
  • Liaising with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders regarding payroll matters

Ideal candidate

  • Previous experience in a Payroll Officer, Payroll Administrator, or Payroll Specialist position
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and payroll legislation
  • Knowledge of Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and Fair Work compliance requirements
  • High attention to detail
  • A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Hands‐on experience using payroll systems such as Chris21/iChris, Micropay, Preceda, ADP, SAP, Employment Hero, Dayforce, Kronos, MYOB, or Xero
