About the role
Our Water Resources team is growing, and we're seeking an experienced Group Leader to guide our Queensland team while supporting our national practice. This role suits someone who understands the broader strategic picture and values the determination it takes to deliver successful outcomes for clients. You'll foster a positive team culture, support career development, and help shape the vision and strategy for the group.
The Group Leader position is a function, in addition to an employee's technical/project contribution role.
Core functions
* Awareness of local market and the project pipeline that feeds your teams.
* Lead or support with positioning and proposal efforts depending on the scale and complexity of the opportunity.
* Work closely with the Business Leader, Project Management and Commercial Leader, Market Leader, and Practice Leaders in your efforts, as well as Group and Team Leaders with similar market alignment within other regions.
* Management of work pipeline to achieve team goals in relation to utilisation, career growth and strategic business improvements.
* Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure projects are adequately resourced to meet project requirements and that your teams are trained and appropriately skilled. You will work collaboratively with the regional leadership team to continually seek work for your teams.
Technical responsibilities
* Undertaking hydraulic and hydrological modelling – TUFLOW, URBS, XP RAFTS and WBNM preferred.
* Assistance/mentorship to junior members of the team. We operate as a national team and foster an environment of open learning.
* Producing clear and concise technical reports.
* Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as required
* Flood modelling of creek and river systems and overland flow paths.
* Modelling of pipe drainage networks and stormwater quality treatment trains
* Collaboration with designers, environmental scientists, planners and engineers to deliver designs that are innovative, environmentally sensitive and practical
* Interaction with clients in order to nurture long lasting relationships
About you
· Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably post-graduate
· Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland.
· Minimum of 8 years' related work, leadership, financial management and consulting experience;
· Expertise in leading teams will be highly regarded.
· Expertise with dealing with a range of clients and stakeholders including local authorities, government bodies and commercial companies.
· Highly experienced in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling with demonstrated experience aligned with the technical responsibilities of the role.
