After securing a very exciting project with Rio Tinto, Civmec are currently seeking experienced Painter Blasters on a casual basis. These positions will commence in mid-January 2026 and run through until the end of the year.
The scope of work being undertaken covers most disciplines performed by Civmec within the maintenance space. The project will comprise of 7 shutdowns over a period of 12 months performing upgrades on the clients' balance machines (2x Reclaimers, 2x Stackers and 2x Shiploaders).
Shutdown dates for 2026:
* 31/01 - 25/02
* 16/03 - 07/04
* 25/04 - 17/05
* 01/06 - 22/06
* 21/07 - 11/08
* 24/08 - 21/09
* 19/10 - 16/11
The Role
* Mobilise and demobilising blasting hoppers/spray pumps and encapsulations
* Abrasive blast, ranging from a whip class SA 3 on ferrous and nonferrous substrates using both garnet and steel abrasives
* Hand/Mechanical preparation of repair areas using orbital sanders and MBX's
* Brush/Roll stripe coats as required.
* Using mainly airless spray, apply up to 5 coats systems required DFT's/specifications
* Application of; Inorganic zinc's, Epoxy zinc's, High build epoxies, Antifouls and Acrylic polyurethanes.
* Remediate areas marked up by quality inspectors to meet the requirements of clients' specification.
* Keep a safe and tidy work area and product storage room.
* Perform other general duties if required.
About You
* Australian recognised Trade Certificate
* Construction White Card
* Work Safely at Heights (within 2 years of issue)
* High Risk Work Licence (WP essential, LF preferred)
* MSIC, or the ability to obtain
* Ability to pass a pre-employment Medical and regular / random Drug and Alcohol screens
