The Role
The Personal Care Assistant or Home support Worker role sits within the community home care programs and supports the independence of clients to continue to live in the community. The role will deliver a range of services to clients who are assessed as requiring low to high levels of care in and around their own private homes, and sometimes in community establishments. Services are delivered in line with the client's individual care plan.
Responsibilities
* Assist clients with general household cleaning tasks within client homes such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, linen change, laundry, bathroom cleaning, etc.
* Assist clients with personal care needs such as showering and toileting (PCA only).
* Accompany clients for shopping and errands.
* Transport and community access as required.
* Engage and communicate with clients in their home, and other stakeholders such as family members as required.
* Monitor and report any physical, emotional or behavioural changes/concerns as per MiCare processes in a timely manner.
* Manage communication channels with all stakeholders, including escalating significant events to Service Coordination/Team Leader.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A Certificate III in Individual Support / Aged Care (PCA only)
* Willingness to undertake a police check
* Current First Aid and CPR certificates
* Valid driver's licence, comprehensively insured and roadworthy vehicle
* Evidence of current influenza and full COVID-19 vaccinations
* Smartphone and access to a computer/device
* Knowledge of the aging process and experience caring for elders in the community
* Ability to travel and be flexible/responsive to client and organisational needs
* Eye for detail and high standards of service delivery and documentation
* Ability to work with minimal supervision while accepting direction as required
* Flexible, caring, patient attitude and professional conduct
* Computer literate with the ability to use a smart device for work including care notes, rostering and MiCare processes
* Ability to speak a language in addition to English would be advantageous
* Australian or New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident
* The successful applicant must satisfactorily complete all pre-employment checks, including National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Check and influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations.
