Overview

As a Lawyer in the Navy, there is no better way for you to be exposed to a wide range of legal issues in a relatively short time span.

You will contribute to Navy's mission by providing specialist advice in the core legal areas of legal practice in the Navy, which are military discipline, military administrative law and military operations law. In addition to the provision of specialist legal advice, you may also appear as advocates in Defence inquiries, or as prosecuting or defending personnel before Courts-Martial and Defence Force magistrate trials.

Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a salary package starting from $97,168.

Qualifications
* For this role, you must be over 17 at the time of enlistment, and an Australian Citizen.
* Hold a relevant bachelor's degree in law such as Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
* Be admitted to practice as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of an Australian state or territory.
* Hold a current practising certificate with a state or territory Law Society or be immediately eligible to obtain a practising certificate.
* Have a minimum of 12 months' experience as a lawyer, solicitor, or barrister. Paralegal or law clerk experience is not sufficient.
