Full time $76,000 – $80,000 Base Salary + super Posted 2h ago

The Company Carpenter Beef's Joanna Plains farm, feedlot and backgrounding facility is located 1.5 hours north of Perth in Cataby, Western Australia. We are currently seeking Agriculture Technician to join our team at our Joanna Plains Farm and Feedlot.


Required qualifications and experience

* Experience working on a farm and/or in a feedlot environment
* Have cattle handling experience and knowledge
* Be a team player with excellent communication skills
* Have a valid driver's licence


Position Description

* Identifying pathogenic micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops, livestock
* Assisting in devising methods of control
* Monitoring livestock to gauge the effectiveness of feed formulae
* Support and assist team with livestock AI programs for breeding purposes
* Providing advice, training and technical support and services on technology solutions such as sensors, farm management software and data
* Installing, programming, testing, repairing and maintaining animal and crop health monitoring equipment
* Collecting and collating Livestock data for research and animal husbandry purposes
* Operating and maintaining systems and equipment used in farm and livestock production, including analysing data and preparing reports
* Checking feed and water systems daily to ensure cattle have continuous access to clean water and appropriate feed quantities, and troubleshooting any delivery issues
* Collaborating closely with consultant nutritionist to develop tailored feed ration formulations based on specific cattle breeds and genetic profiles
* Inducting cattle upon arrival by performing tagging, weighing, visual health checks, and data recording to ensure accurate herd tracking and traceability
* Maintaining cleanliness and adhering to biosecurity protocols in cattle handling areas, machinery, and equipment to prevent disease transmission and support animal welfare
* Conducting daily inspections of machinery and vehicles, including checking oil, fuel, tyres, hydraulic systems, and overall functionality to ensure safe and efficient operation
* Preparing and distributing livestock feed rations in accordance with programmed feeding schedules and nutritional plans, using feed wagons or mechanical feeders
* Maintaining cattle yards, pens, and handling systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and repairing fencing, gates, and surfaces to support safe livestock movement


Qualifications / Experience

* Minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar role
